Marks Helprins dzimis 1947. gada 28. jūnijā Manhetenā, Ņujorkā, ASV; bērnību pavadīja Hudzonas upes tuvumā un Lielbritānijas Rietumindijā. Beidzis Hārvardas koledžu un Hārvardas Mākslas un zinātnes universitātes augstskolu. Pēcdiploma studijas viņš pabeidza Prinstonas un Oksfordas universitātēs. Dienējis Lielbritānijas flotes, kājnieku un Izraēlas gaisa spēkos. Marka Helprina darbs publicēts laikrakstā New Yorker gandrīz ceturtdaļgadsimtu, un viņa stāsti un esejas par politiku un estētiku ir publicēti laikrakstā The Atlantic Monthly, The New Criterion, The Wall Street Journal, Commentary, The New York Times, The National Review, American Heritage, Forbes ASAP un daudzos citos.
